Coaching software built HIPAA-first
Many coaches in health, wellness, and therapy-adjacent niches handle information that qualifies as protected health information (PHI). Most general-purpose coaching tools were not designed with that in mind. Tend was.
What HIPAA-first means in practice
Encryption at rest and in transit. Client data — notes, messages, session records — is encrypted both in storage and during transmission.
Business Associate Agreement (BAA). Tend signs a BAA with every practice that requires one, covering your obligations as a covered entity or business associate.
Audit logging. Access to client records is logged, giving you a trail for compliance reviews or incident response.
Secure client portal. Clients access their materials, session notes, and messages through a protected portal — not via email attachments or shared drives.
Access controls. Role-based access means only the right people in your practice can see client records.
HIPAA compliance is a platform-level commitment, not an add-on. If your coaching practice touches health information, Tend is built to support that responsibility from the ground up.
